Recumbent Bike tours provide plenty of exercise, food, fun, friendship, and the opportunity to see sites from a unique viewpoint

Two days, three, or maybe a weeklong bike tour is what you have been dreaming of. They come in all shapes and sizes. Bike tours in Europe, South America, New Zealand or Australia, any place you can go on two wheels.

How about the supported tours where you ride from one location to another, while your gear is transported ahead waiting for you. Now that you have to love! Meals are included and in some cases beds and showers.

Unsupported tours are when you really rough it! This usually involves pulling specialized, lightweight trailers designed for tours. Clothing, sleeping gear, spare parts, emergency supplies and food usually make up the contents transported in these trailers.

Some of the events will attract as many as 500 riders. Others may see 1500 for some of the shorter events. Imagine even 500 other cyclists involved in something like this, and the coordination to pull it off.

Adventure Cycling is one of the better-known groups that offer maps and numerous events throughout the year. These events are usually well supported and use experienced guides. It’s fun to meet people who come from so many different places, have unique reasons for coming, and return to do it again many times.

Speed demons don't usually go on these tours. Speeds are usually a relaxed 15 mph average. The slowest rider usually determines the order of the day, and there are riders of all ages and abilities. Mileage varies based on the lay of the land, and thinking of the slowest rider. It can really be a great adventure, and one that you’ll be anxious to repeat.
